New England vs NYCFC
With only two points separating New England and NYCFC in the Eastern Conference standings, the two prepare for their second meeting of the regular season when they square off at Gillette Stadiumon Saturday. Frank Lampard seems set to make his MLS debut this weekend, although he has already been named to the MLS All-Star team as per the commissioner’s decision.
The announcement has sent a wave of discussion as to why both he and Steven Gerrard were named to the team, despite the fact that neither one played a single minute in league play this season. Their accomplishments abroad are well documented, but they certainly do not deserve the honor, and it took away the opportunity from players who have been on the field all season and hoped to earn a spot in the All-Star game.
David Villa was an obvious choice to earn his spot with his 10 goals that lead the team, only trailing Sebastian Giovinco and Kei Kamara for the league lead in goals.
His two goals last weekend were part of an eight-goal barrage between Toronto and NYCFC, and there could have been even more than that. Both Villa and Giovinco missed penalty kicks in the first half, although they both did convert on chances later in the game.
Villa scored the game’s opening goal to make it 1 - 0 in the 17th minute, and the table was set for an instant classic match.
After an own goal that put NYCFC up 2 - 0 just before the half-hour mark, Sebastian Giovinco scored a natural hat trick in nine minutes to make the game 3 - 2 going to halftime. Villa's second goal tied the game at three just after the hour mark, and both Toronto and NYC scored in the 82nd and 84th minute to earn both teams a point from the draw.
New England is still dealing with the same issues we have seen for over a month now, and the losing streak has now stretched to five straight outings in league play, and six straight overall after the loss to USL side Charlotte in the U.S Open Cup before the five match MLS streak.
New England will play three of their next four games at home, and will head to Chicago next weekend, before returning to Gillette Stadium to face Toronto and Houston. However, they will have a bye in between the home affairs.
The Revolution has one win in their last 13 games in all competitions dating back to early May, and we are now seeing similar quotes to the ones we saw early in the year out of NYCFC camp. If you recall, NYCFC was the team that was struggling to find results early in the campaign, and all we heard from head coach Jason Kreis was that the team was staying positive and hoping to turn it around.
NYCFC turned it around to the tune of 21 points, and only three points behind New England who currently hold the sixth and final playoff position in the East entering the weekend. Both teams have given up more goals than they have scored in 2015, and still have a long road ahead of them.
The New Yorkers will travel from New England back home to face both Orlando City and Montreal at Yankee Stadium, before another rematch with their installed rival Red Bulls at Red Bull Arena onAugust 9.

Quick Analysis & Prediction
Quick Analysis:
Why New England is -105 at home is beyond us, because they certainly do not deserve to be favored over anyone the way they are currently playing.
We might have to offer two plays in this one, because the lines are relatively user-friendly towards the plays we have in mind to suggest.
Let's just get to it, so you don't have to wait any longer.
Prediction:
The NYCFC +0.5 handicap line at -115 is more than a reasonable offer to fade the Revolution through this stretch of results that do not resemble a team that made it all the way to the MLS finals a year ago.
Along with that action, the Over 2.5 is a little pricey at -125, but who of these two is going to stop it from happening?
Might we see a 2 - 2 affair?
Time will tell, but for now, the two offers of the +0.5 on the away side, and Over 2.5 makes the board this weekend at Gillette Stadium.
